SPL were instructed to advise on the conversion of a Grade II Listed Office building to form 9no. residential apartments.
SPL coordinated a project team which included specialist conservation and heritage input. A successful planning argument was put forward which demonstrated the building’s long-term maintenance and preservation would be better secured through a conversion scheme. In economic terms, SPL also successfully justified the loss of a protected employment use. The delivery of 9no. high quality residential homes were seen to contribute significantly to the achievement of the Borough’s housing target.
Officers agreed with SPL’s conclusion and consent was granted in 2015.
