Simply Planning Ltd are instructed by our client, CG Slough 2 Ltd, to undertake consultation with the adjoining residents of the Verona Apartments, relating to a proposed development on the disused land adjoining the car park which serves the existing apartments.

Our client is intending to submit a full planning application that seeks the following development at the above site:

Redevelopment of the site to provide a residential building (Use Class C3) for use as affordable housing with associated infrastructure, demolition, landscaping, drainage, car parking, cycling parking and ancillary works.’

The application is a resubmission of the previously submitted planning application reference P/03596/071, which was withdrawn ahead of determination at Slough Borough Council’s Planning Committee on 21st February 2023, as the Council’s Highways Authority raised an issue with the proposals closing the vehicular access from the roundabout.

It is our intention to reapply once more, but with the existing access arrangement retained to address the comments made by the Council’s highways team.

As outlined in our recent newsletter, this adjoining development is going to deliver a significant number of benefits to the wider Verona apartments complex. These are demonstrated on the plans can be viewed and downloaded on the website, but can be summarised as follows:

  • Installation of new security barriers and grills to the ramps for the car park, in order to further limit access to residents only and to address issues of anti-social behaviour in the parking area by non-residents;
  • Demolition of the existing wooden fenced bin-store and creation of a new brick built bin-store, which would have segregated areas for the existing Verona Apartments and the new development. This will address some of the existing issues with the bin storage location;
  • Installation of new CCTV to the parking areas and wider site, again to further enhance the security of the complex for residents;
  • A design of development which will ensure the protection of resident’s privacy and light within the existing and proposed apartments;
  • Enhanced landscaping within the site to improve the character to the complex; and
  • The new development will provide further natural surveillance of the wider complex, again assisting in reducing anti-social behaviour which has been an issue in the car parking areas in the past.

We have provided this website to allow for the revised proposals to be reviewed, ahead of a meeting with the residents of the Verona Apartments in the foyer of the building on 25th May 2023 at 6.30pm
